In 1986, at the age of twelve, Kevin Richards walked into his hometown Country Music station to pick up a prize. Amazed by a wall stacked with records and posters of Country Music stars, he immediately became intrigued by the little studio that beamed music to upstate New York . Kevin knew from the first look that this was what he wanted to do with his life. Thanks to DJ Joan Crane and PD Stan Edwards, Kevin hung around to learn how it all worked. Kevin returned for several weekend visits to the station, and in no time, found himself on the air. Barely a teenager, he had to apply for a child actors permit to legally work on the radio. He was soon spinning records after school, and every weekend, on Country 93- WSCG in his hometown of Corinth , New York .

Kevin credits his Mother and Grandparents for introducing him to Country Music. His mother would often fill the house with the songs of Tammy Wynette, Donna Fargo, and Loretta Lynn. Meanwhile, when visiting his grandparents, they would watch shows like "Hee Haw" and "Ralph Emery's Nasvhille Now."
